"Døyr fe
døyr frender;
døyr sjølv det same.
Men ordet om deg
aldri døyr
vinn du eit gjetord gjævt."

"Die sheep,
Die friends,
Dies even yourself.
But the word about you never dies,
if tales of great deeds you achieve."

Welcome to the site of Whalekillers !
We are a group of young people who have one interest in common - long-distance sailing. Our first longer expedition was in the summer of 2003 when we sailed from Bergen (Norway's second largest city situated on the sout-west coast of Norway) to the North Cape and on to Murmansk in Russia. Using approximately six weeks, we returned after numerous adventures with only two crew members left on board and our log showing well past 4000km.

In the summer of 2004 the trip went to Shetland, the Faroes and further on to Iceland. Getting there was quite easy, but somehow Neptune didn't seem to approve on our departure, and we had to turn back three times before finally managing to espace to the faroes - with a broken running backstay and a pultpit that litterally got ripped off the boat by a huge wave.

Summer of 2005 we were supposed to sail to Gdansk in Poland, but due to a hole in the hull and generally poor weather condition, we ran out of time and had to content ourselves with Borhnholm.

Summer of 2006 was our shortest expedition till now - only a small over-the-the-north-sea-trip to Shetland and back. But we still had a jolly good time. And we look at this summer as a small backstep before a giant leap!

Our boat is a Maxi Mixer, 35 feet long swedish-built glass-fiber boat. Originally the boat came in two version - the cruising and the racing version, and ours is the racing version. With accomodation for up to six, it has brought us safely throug all that Neptune has been able to throw at us. From mirror-flat water in the North Sea and to 50+ knots of wind in the South East of Iceland!
